ABOUT THE TRAINING COURSES

Alan Gartrell: Excellent overall. Tim does a great job with both didactic and applied technique. The info and course layout seemed complementary. Cannot think of a weak point.

Scott Davis: Excellent

Art Pederson: Comprehensive

Christina Claesson: A lot of information in short time. I have learned a lot and discovered possibilities within myself. I only hope I will remember everything when I continue to climb on my own.

Steve McDowell: Quite thorough and very organized.

Diane Floyd: Excellent. I am so amazed at the amount I learned in such a short time. I really liked the amount of practice time we got.

Santiago Lechuga: Tree inspection, climbing safety, equipment, knots, environmental concerns, tree care and climbing with others all reviewed thoroughly.

Ashley Hovis: Great for beginners, I learned everything I needed to know before I went up into the tree, on the ground.

Jackie Gaudioso: The course does a good job of going over all the safety, techniques and tips a climber needs. The binder is helpful as well as the repetition in the lessons by the instructor in order to learn the routine and methods.

Huisheng Chen: Good and comprehensive.

Brian ‘Cato’ Cook: I felt it was very thorough for a 2 day course.

Jamie Granger: Very informative, hands on, and helpful for starting out.

Bonnie Zimmerman: The course was very comprehensive, and although there was a lot of content, it was well-presented. Tim made it easy to understand and the rules and procedures developed by TCI appear impeccable. The original plan for taking this course was for canopy research and eco-tourism, but I also am now interested in recreational tree climbing.

Paul Harcey: Very good content, lots of hands-on instruction and taught as much as possible outside on location or while in trees.

Nick Morris: Excellent!

Aimee Goglia: I thought the content was excellent. There was a great deal of info covered with lots of time to practice.

Isaac Mankehe: Excellent, thorough & safe. You’re teaching good, solid basics for the Basic Course.

Suzanne Sullivan: GREAT!

Dana Harper: Lots of information and adequate time to practice & remember. Very thorough, safe, confidence-building - Fun - Spiritual - Wonderful - Fantastic - Inspiring.

Nathan Clark: It seemed to be a very thorough coverage of the basics with a strong emphasis on absolute safety and lots of practical hands on experience.

Lucas Peoples-Henderson: The content was thorough. The skills I learned definitely gave me the confidence to spend time in the trees.

William Bennett: What impressed me the most was the way Tim made covering the rather large amount of material manageable and calm throughout the week. I was also impressed with the respect and concern for the well being of the trees that was woven throughout all that we learned.

Dana Harper: Tim is very thorough - upbeat, patient, knowledgeable, comforting and encouraging. Inspiring!

Nathan Clark: Tim Kovar was very thorough and vigilant in making sure we learned the material and practiced it consistently in our training sessions. He also shared and inspired us with his keen enthusiasm.

Alan Gartrell: Tim clearly wants this course to continue to improve and mature. He’s very dedicated and impassioned. He is also patient, safe and observant. I love the way he safely lets us make mistakes.

Scott Davis: Excellent

Art Pederson: Knowledgeable, patient, conversant

Christina Claesson: A great course that gently and knowingly has guided me to do things I doubted I’d dare. Tim has shared both great general knowledge and personal passion, and I feel 100% safe to follow his guidance. I’m happy for the new things I’ve learned and eager to go back home to practice them.

Steve McDowell: Confidence inspiring. Tim was very organized, methodical and prepared for each level of instruction. He speaks clearly and moves through the material efficiently while allowing sufficient time for questions.

Diane Floyd: Tim is an incredible teacher. His teaching is clear, safe and solid. We could ask him anything, he let us make choices and figure ways to get where we wanted. Let us make mistakes if they didn’t create a safety issue. A valuable learning tool for me.

FURTHER COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS

Christina Claesson: One learns not only from the teacher but from other students as well. Even though I appreciate the luxury of sharing my teacher with only one other student, I wouldn’t mind a bigger group. I don’t complain; I think Tim deserves a bigger audience than this.

Diane Floyd: I liked having the first day be a climb that was set up and just get into the tree without a huge amount of new info. Then the next days relying on myself and trusting my knots. That was big. I liked the change within me. (Tim always checked my knots before I moved.) My fear of heights really lessened. I became quite comfortable with my attention on what I was doing. A huge thanks.
