001 STERLING HTP STATIC 7/16" (11mm) 150 FEET $151.00

When we heard praise for Sterling rope from our canopy research friends, we were eager to give it a try. Viola climbed a tall tree with it here in Oregon and had this to say:

On this climb, my first pitch was 130 feet from the forest floor to the first anchor branch. I was using Sterling’s HTP Static 3/8” rope. There was NO detectable bounce or stretch in this rope, so all my energy using ascenders was converted into upward movement on the rope, instead of being wasted bouncing in the air. It was a big relief, like walking on firm pavement after slogging through snow.

I expect a certain amount of stretch even in the best static ropes. But Sterling really surprised me. I was amazed. This rope gave me more efficient SRT movement than I’ve ever experienced on other ropes.

Viola's experience is with the 3/8" diameter HTP Static. We haven't tested the 7/16" diameter yet. But we feel great recommending it to you because it is so well received by some of the world's most accomplished SRT climbers. The 7/16" is slightly stretchier and heavier than the 3/8" diameter. Yet it has the increased strength of a larger diameter line and still such a low elongation rate that we are happy to add it to our selection of great static ropes for tall tree climbing.
