| A good selection of carabiners is an important part of your tree climbing bag. The models we offer here are the ones we find most useful when we climb.
For life-safety use, always choose a locking carabiner. We carry a variety of screw lock, auto lock and triple lock carabiners. (Note: for saddle closure, we highly recommend using a Screw Link instead of any carabiner.)
You’ll find a selection of non-locking carabiners here, too, for handling your gear in non-life-safety situations.
We list carabiner strength in kN (kilo-Newtons), which is a fall-force measurement: one kN equals 225 pounds. The UIAA minimum acceptable strength is 23 kN.
Thanks to our friend Tim Walsh (now working on a doctorate in ergonomics and safety, and studying accidents in the tree care profession) for keeping us up to date on safety standards for the tree care industry. |
